Job DescriptionTo assist in the day to day care and development, safety and control of the children and young people. To ensure that the building remains in appropriate condition to safeguard the welfare of the children. Accountabilities To ensure that the care given to the children, and the work of the home, reflects the Statement of purpose and Function of the Home ?To work in accordance with the:- ? Children?s Home Development Programme ? Relevant County Policies ? Children?s Home Regulations 1991 ? The Children Act 1989 ? Equal Opportunities Policies ? Recommendations of Inspection Reports ? To be responsible for the implementation of Essex Child Protection Procedures. ? To demonstrate good childcare practice and a professional social work approach with children and families. ? To take an active part in providing information for care planning and reviewing of children?s cases in line with Department Instructions and relevant legislation. This will include writing reports where appropriate and completion of records. ? To provide a sensitive and therapeutic residential service for the children which best meets their social psychological, educational cultural, physical and health needs. ? To provide day to day care of children, designed to help them reach their potential and where appropriate, act as the named worker for the individual children. ? To provide appropriate long term, short term or respite care, according to the Statement of Purpose and Function of the Home. ? To provide emotional and physical support to the children who are expecting trauma. ? To ensure that children and young people carry appropriate responsibility for their own lives and to keep them informed of their circumstances and rights involving them in planning their lives. Providing support to the children in helping them plan their lives, and working with them towards taking greater control and responsibility.
