HOSTLAND TRAINING

Our Generic Housing training is an intensive 30 hours Course

Covering all aspects of social housing; the training is a combination of practical and theoretical knowledge focussing on a step by step guide for the day to day practice, couple with practical assistance to secure a job in Housing. The course is designed and delivered by experienced professionals who continue to work in housing. Our training material is regularly updated to reflect the job market and employers requirements. All our courses are sanctioned by experienced officers and managers within the local Housing Authorities and Housing Association and our partnership working relationship with Housing Managers is essential for us, as it enhanced the quality of our courses whilst shaping the delivering training that is current and needed by all stakeholders.

The course will cover all the following modules

Homelessness assessment and Housing Option advice

  • Providing housing advice
  • Conducting basic homeless assessments
  • Providing welfare benefit and housing advice
  • Carry out investigations of homeless applications under current Housing legislation, EEC Regulations, Asylum & Immigration Acts, Family & Matrimonial Law, and establish statutory duty to provide emergency and/or long term housing duty.

  • Ensure that the investigation process takes account of all relevant factors and correct and timely details are passed to Temporary Accommodation.
  • Establish through investigation and assessment the basis for acceptance or rejection under the Housing Acts, EEC Regulations, Asylum & Immigration Acts, Family & Matrimonial Law, and monitor caseload to ensure assessments are done within the performance framework.
  • Identify cases early in the assessment process where referrals need to be made to other boroughs, services or agencies.
  • Ensure effective liaison and information sharing with other teams and external agencies including caseworkers, health & crime prevention agencies, advocates and support agencies
